This is an 18 carat yellow gold American Waltham Watch Company full hunter keyless wind full size pocket watch. It is dated 1883. The time is changed via a negative set mechanism, with a tiny lever by the 4 o'clock position. This was used before the pull out crown was invented. Unlike many others, the case has not been engraved, making it a much more desirable and usable piece. The hands are blue steeled and there is a small seconds dial at 6 o'clock. The name of the watch maker, model number and hallmarks are visible in the photographs accompanying this piece. The top ring is rolled gold. As may be expected with a piece of this age there are two points of note: there is slight banding on the seconds dial where the hand has rubbed over the years and there is a hairline on the dial between 10 and 3. This should not detract from this stunning piece which is fully working, serviced and sold with a guarantee.
